We are very active in our local communities. Here in Connecticut we are involved with the Rotary Club, which supports local charities. We recently sponsored a golf event for the Rotary Club and the recipients of the event were Food Share (www.foodshare.org); Covenant to Care (www.covenanttocare.org); and the Bloomfield High School Scholarship program.

We recently supported the Blue Hills Civic Association Affecting New Thoughts Summer youth program. This program provides training and mentoring to high school students in the Greater Hartford area. It is a 12-week program that teaches the students the values of being on time, learning about entrepreneurship, the value of networking and relationships, as well as working as a team.

We managed to hire two students in the summer of 2007 through our support of the Capital Workforce Partners program. These students worked in our offices during the summer performing such duties as filing, data entry, web site development, and sitting with our folks to learn and understand what they do on a daily basis.

For the past two years we have mentored a student from the Big Picture High School, a magnet school here in our local community. Our mentorship has included helping the students build self esteem, teamwork, character building, and relationship development. Each student is assigned a task from their school such as web site development, data base development, or business process outsourcing research. The students would be assigned to shadow our folks and learn the ins and outs of our working environment. At the end of the school year, the student must provide the project outcomes to other members of the class, and get graded by those students as well as their assigned teachers.
